Clindamycin is believed to kill bacteria associated with acne by inhibiting bacteria protein synthesis at the ribosomal level i.e the site of protein synthesis. Acne starts during puberty due to the hormone testosterone which leads to increase in sebum secretion causing it to become more greasy and encouraging spots to be formed. Acne vulgaris are spots which develop on chest, shoulder and face. Clindamycin was first approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1970. The acne is caused due to poor diet and bad hygiene.
